Even though the weather was cold and damp, Tuesday night’s show was able to bring in an all ages crowd to Phase 2 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Local-based band Axis Five began the evening with their high energy original rock. They played tunes from their just released album, “The Earthlings.” It was a great show and they brought loyal fans all the way from Wisconsin to enjoy this performance.
Next to the stage was Blacktop Mojo, a band predominately from Texas and Alabama. With a Bluesy rock sound, the band really knows how to knock songs out of the park. They are so fresh and cohesive, musically complimenting each other for an amazing sound. Even when the crowd was apprehensive about the cover of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” Lead Singer Matt James absolutely nailed the tune.
The main act to come to center stage is the AMAZING Black Stone Cherry on the Family Tree Tour. This Kentucky rock/metal band brought serious music to the stage. Since 2001, the band has consistently managed to draw in patrons for their shows. The set list was an astounding 17 songs long. Lead singer Chris Robertson sang original songs like “Blind Man,” “Me and Mary Jane,” “Lonely Train,” and “White Trash Millionaire.” The band also managed to cover a few songs like “I’m Your Hoochie Coochie Man” (written by Willie Dixon and first recorded by Muddy Waters) and “Can’t You See” (by The Marshall Tucker Band). This band plays as beautifully as they dress for stage presence. The combination of outfits, energy, and enthusiasm this band has makes for a wonderful show worth being a part of; if you can catch a show near you, make it happen.
